VET provision for low-skilled young people is a complex pedagogical challenge. Often, VET trainers report that they find it difficult to "reach" their young learners. When we take a closer look at communication patterns, habits and processes of young people, we can see that reading and writing of complex texts tend to disappear. Communication-based interaction

⇒ is rather short and uses key words, slang words, shortcuts, etc.;
⇒ is fast and immediate; and, above all,
⇒ is becoming, to an ever-growing degree, digital.


All accross Europe, however, VET training is still mostly based on the traditional communication channels, even if it no longer centres around purely teacher-centred and theory-based learning. Therefore, PROMOVET partners want to provide VET trainers with comepetences to make full use of their young learners' communication tools and embed them in VET didactics and training plans:

To do so, the PROMOVET project partners

⇒ implement an investigative research with young low-skilled VET learners, VET trainers and training experts;
⇒ develop a web-based compendium of tools to support VET trainers;
⇒ develop a training programme for VET trainers on the use of ICT tools and their potential impact in VET didactics for low-skilled young learners;
⇒ support the general improvement of quality and professionalisation in VET training through the use of ICT tools; and
⇒ realise a participative VET training approach with young learners teaching the VET trainers in the use of ICT-based tools in a learning environment.

The main impact groups of the PROMOVET project are VET trainers as the main target group and young low-skilled learners as the main beneficiaries. Other impact groups include labour market authorities, social partners and VET policy makers on local, regional, national, and European levels.
