Joint Staff Training took place in Graz, AT
Between 21 and 25 January 2019, the PROMOVET Joint Staff Training took place at Jugend am Werk Steiermark head offices in Graz, AT. Three VET trainers from all partner countries (Austria, Cyprus, Finland, Italy, Ireland, and Spain) took part in the training event. For five days, the 18 participants lerned about, discussed and tried out the PROMOVET Curriculum to be then able and train the curriculum in their home countries - and to point to parts that might need optimising. Within the active exchange, many new and interesting aspects regarding the use of IT tools were brought up. Particular focus was placed on the PROMOVET Web Compendium, which introduces 30 different IT tools and includes little videos that offer ideas for including the tools into (VET) teaching and training. The last day of the training was dedicated to the assessment of acquired knowledge, skills and competences, and the participants received their certificates of participation.
One special feature in implementing the curriculum was the so-called 'inclusive approach' where young learners took over parts of the trainng and were the experts who trained the trainers in using the IT tools.
The next step will be the pilot training in all the partner countries, which will be taking place within the next weeks and months. If you are interested in taking part, please get in touch with the partner organisation in your country.
PROMOVET Web Compendium online
The PROMOVET Web Compendium provides an overview of 30 ICT tool that are commonly used by young students all over Europe. The PROMOVET Compendium features a short general description of the tools and their key functionality, informs on who uses the tools, platforms and privacy issues, and tells about advantages and disadvantages when used for training purposes. You can access the PROMOVET Web Compendium here.
Third partner meeting in Pori, FI
The third partner meeting of the PROMOVET project took place from 14 to 16 November 2018 in Pori (Finland). In the meeting, which was hosted by the Finnish partners of WINNOVA, focussed on finalising the second project phase and preparing the pilot implementation of the PROMOVET Curriculum.
On the first day of the meeting, the partners of CARDET introduced the Web Compendium of those IT tools (Intellectual Output 2) that are also in the focus of the Curriculums. The partners had researched 30 tools and checked and described them in terms of their potential use for vocational education and training.
In a next step, partners discussed finalising the PROMOVET Curriculum (Intellectual Output 3). This curriculum is the basis for the training programme for trainers and educators who would like to integrate in their VET training those modern ICT tools that their students use in everyday communication.
On the second day of the meeting, the partners discussed the training for the trainers and educators who would pilot the PROMOVET course in the partner countries. This staff training will be organised by Jugend am Werk Steiermark in January 2019 in Graz, Austria. Moreover, the partners discussed all necessary steps to pilot the training course in their countries.
Representatives of all partner organisations took part in the third partner meeting. The next and final meeting will take place in June 2019 in Graz, Austria. The PROMOVET Final Conference takes place on 27 June 2019, also in Graz, Austria.
PROMOVET first intellectual output available
The first Intellectual Output of the PROMOVET project is now available. It deals with the use of "smart" communication tools by young learners and represents one of very few studies in this area. If you would like to know more about this topic and about our plans on how to use the study results just go to the RESULTS page of this website. There, you can also download the full study in English and the summary reports in all partner languages.
PROMOVET brochure for download
You can now download the PROMOVET brochure from this website. We are happy if you use it and tell the world about our project 🙂
Second Partner Meeting in Nicosia, CY
The second PROMOVET partner meeting took place on 15 and 16 March 2018 in Nicosia, Cyprus. The meeting was hosted by our Cypriot partners of CARDET and focussed on the results of the PROMOVET Research Study and on the preparation of the next project steps.
The meeting started with a presentation of the results of the PROMOVET Research Study (Intellectual Output 1) by the Irish partners of Meath Partnership. Supported by questionnaires, interviews and desk research, partners tried to identify which ICT tools young people prefer to use for communication purposes and how these tools can be used as didactical support in vocational education and training. The PROMOVET Research Study is available in English; a short version is available in the PROMOVET partner languages.
In the second part of the meeting, the Cypriot partners of CARDET introduced their plans for the development of the web-based compendium of communication tools (Intellectual Output 2). In the compendium, partners will introduce 30 tools and give examples for their use in VET. Lead by the Austrian partner of Jugend am Werk Steiermark, the third part of the meeting focussed on the detailed preparations for the elaboration of the PROMOVET Curriculum (Intellectual Output 3). In addition to defining the modules and distributing the tasks, partners, amongst others, also decided on the peer evaluation structure.
Other topics during the meeting included quality management and dissemination with an emphasis on intensifying social media activities.
Representatives of all project partners were present at the meeting in spring-like Nicosia. The next meeting was scheduled for November 2018; partners will meet in Pori, Finland.
Kick-off Meeting in Trim, IE
On 16 and 17 October 2017, the project partners met for their first project meeting in Trim, Ireland. The meeting, which was hosted by our Irish project partners of Meath Partnership, focused on getting to know each other and the project's main topics.
Following a detailed overview of the two-year project period by the Austrian project coordinator and the discussion and clarification of open questions, the participants concentrated on the first Intellectual Output. Their intensive work on the PROMOVET Research Study included, amongst others, defining a timeline for this project phase, introducing the country-specific situations with regard to the use of ICT-based tools in VET training and agreeing a detailed work and responsibility plan for the common work on the first intellectual output. All participants contributed their experiences and their extensive knowledge.
Furthermore, the partners of CARDET (Cyprus) and Jugend am Werk Steiermark (Austria) presented an outlook of the work to be done for creating the PROMOVET online compendium of ICT-based tools to be used in VET (IO2) and for elaborating the inclusive training programme for VET trainers (IO3). Moreover, partners discussed contractual, financial and administrative issues, they set up communication guidelines and talked about dissemination and quality parameters.
Although hurricane Ophelia made travelling to Ireland quite difficult, representatives from all partner organisations managed to join the meeting. The next meeting was scheduled for mid-March 2018 to be held in Nicosia, Cyprus.
